AFC Darwen took their fine league form in to the divisional cup to book their place in the third round.
The NWCL Division One leaders entertained an Oldham Boro side in top form themselves having lost just one of the last four fixtures.
And in James Curley, the visitors had one of the division’s form strikers – scoring four times in the recent 7-0 triumph over Eccleshall.
But Curley or Oldham failed to bother a Darwen team who had already tasted victory over the Greater Manchester outfit earlier in the league programme.
Jonathan Hession gave Darwen a 34th-minute lead and Stephen Lee wrapped up victory with a second six minutes from time.
