A MOTORCYLIST from Chorley was killed when his motorbike collided with a car in Ribchester yesterday.
The man, aged 60 and from Chorley, was pronounced dead at the scene following the crash at the junction of Stoneygate Lane and Clitheroe Road around 1.30pm.
The driver of the silver Vauxhall Astra, a man in his 70s, was taken to hospital with minor injuries.
Stoneygate Lane was closed for more than five hours by police investigators.
Sergeant Shaun Cunningham said: “There has been a collision between a car and a solo motorcyclist.
“Unfortunately, as a result of that collision, the injuries to the rider have proved fatal.
“An investigation will now be ongoing into the cause of the accident.”
Roger Walmsley, 84, who lives in Stoneygate Lane, said: “We’ve had three or four crashes at that junction in the past 12 months.
"People want to know why there are no traffic calming measures around there, but nothing seems to be happening.”
