THREE-year-old Louie Hammond watched the opening ceremony for the Olympics with special interest on Friday — because he will be taking part in the ceremony for the London Games in 2012.

Louie, from Withnell, was one of 300 children born on December 20, 2004 — labelled 20-12 day — who will take part under The Children’s Promise.

As part of the 'Children's Promise', London 2012 pledged to give every baby born on that day the chance to play a role in the Olympic Games and Paralympic Games in 2012, should the bid be successful.

Each year Louie also receives birthday card from chairman of the London Organising Committee for the Olympic Games, Lord Sebastian Coe.

Louie’s mum Holly Hammond, 34, said: “He has been watching in practice for 2012.”
