Eccleston Post Office to move 50 metres away
8:00am Monday 2nd September 2013 in News
Eccleston’s post office is set to relocate and extend its opening hours, it has been announced.
It will move just 50 metres from its current location at The Carrington Centre, off The Green, from unit 14a to unit two.
Building is under way at the new site, which is set to be completed in November.
The new venue will incorporate a main, open-plan Post Office branch with three serving positions and a modern cards and stationery store.
Saturday opening hours will be 9am to 5.30pm, an extension of five hours.
Adrian Wales, the Post Office’s regional network manager for central England, said: “We understand how important having a Post Office is to residents in Eccleston and we are confident that this new modern branch will meet the needs of the local community and secure services for the future.
“The proposed changes to the branch are part of a three-year investment programme, the largest in the history of the Post Office, that will see around 6,000 branches (about half the Post Office network) converting to new-style branches.
“The investment marks a commitment to no more branch closure programmes.”
The Post Office has been independent of Royal Mail since April last year.
