A 31-YEAR-OLD jogger has died after falling into the path of an oncoming lorry.

The man had been running on the grass verge on Wigan Road, Bamber Bridge, when he is believed to have fallen into the carriageway, Lancashire Police said.

The collision happened shortly before 7pm on Wednesday night close to the junction of Shady Lane.

The man suffered head injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police are appealing for witnesses to come forward.

Sergeant John Jennings-Wharton, from the road policing unit, said: "This is a tragic incident where a man has sadly lost his life. We are trying to establish exactly how this collision occurred and I would appeal to anyone who may have seen a jogger in the area around the time of the accident to contact us."
