An ‘inspiring’ music teacher from Euxton said farewell to her school with a concert featuring both current and former pupils.

Beverley Harrison, joined Alder Grange Community and Technology School, Rawtenstall, as Miss Mizon 15 years ago and become a favourite with the pupils.

Pupils at the school hosted a leaving concert in her honour, where they performed a number of songs.

Mrs Harrison said: “I have so many fond memories of my time at Alder Grange. I think because it’s small you have the chance to get involved in as many things as possible.

“In the first two years myself and another music teacher wrote two school musicals, including the script and music, and in 2007 we took the school’s jazz band to Belgium.

“I’m leaving so I can be nearer home to spend as much time as possible with my three-year-old daughter.”

Mrs Harrison will be taking the position of head of music at Holy Cross Catholic High School, Chorley.
