URGENT talks are planned to deal with a fly infestation in Buckshaw Village and Euxton which has recurred for a third successive year.
Environmental health officers are investigating after the return of the flies, which have plagued the area the past few summers.
Last year, Chorley council called in an expert from the Agricultural Development Advisory Service to help find the main cause of the problem – which was found to be a nearby farm’s use of chicken manure as fertiliser.
Council leader Peter Goldsworthy, said: “Despite us locating the problem last year and coming to an agreement with the farmer in question, he has not honoured this, or followed the DEFRA guidelines.”
Meetings are planned with the Environment Agency, the Rural Payments Agency and the NFU
