'Doomsday' terror attack simulation in Lancashire

DOOMSDAY SCENARIO Crew manager Chris Archer and firefighter Paul Swarbrick from Hyndburn fire station rescue actor Louise Eva DOOMSDAY SCENARIO Crew manager Chris Archer and firefighter Paul Swarbrick from Hyndburn fire station rescue actor Louise Eva

A TERROR attack on an aeroplane was the "doomsday scenario" created in Lancashire this weekend in one of the biggest emergency simulations ever staged in the region.

More than 150 fire officers and dozens of personnel from other emergency services were involved in the 15-hour operation which also involved the scenario that nuclear radiation had been released.

To ensure realism, an 80ft aircraft fuselage had been embedded by crane into a two storey industrial unit at the scene of the operation, Washington Hall Fire Training Centre, near Chorley.

Fire crews from throughout East Lancashire were called to the scene, including a specialist decontamination team from Burnley, one of only two in the county.

Around 40 "casualties", in gory makeup were employed to simulate victims of the incident and played their part to the full as screams could be heard among the staged fires and from within the aircraft.

Other fire services involved in the exercise, codenamed Operation Dakota, were Greater Manchester, Merseyside, Northern Ireland, Isle of Man and Sellafield.

The Air Ambulance was also in attendance and another element of the day were two "fatalities", including a crash-test dummy which had been wedged high up in a tree.

One of the exercise directors on the day was Darryl Sturgess, who lives in Darwen and is a member of the urban search and rescue team.

He said: "This a massive challenge for all the services involved and our aim is for it to be as realistic as possible.

"All the teams involved had no prior knowledge that they would be doing this today.

"The circumstances we developed are as close as it could get to a worst case scenario and will help all the services train and prepare for major incidents."

The premise of the day was that terrorists attempted to hijack an aircraft carrying dignitaries and radioactive materials into Warton aerodrome.

Following resistance from passengers the plane crash-landed in Chorley.

Here we go ...the rise of the contingency drills to programme the people that real life is in fact Emmerdale and Corrie, that you all need to prepare for all sorts of plane and train crashes so the security services can play action man and barbie.

How much of my and other taxpayers money has gone towards this. The reason there's a threat of an Islamic terrorist attack is because sucsessive governments,Labour and Tory have pandered to Islamists and allowed them to preach their hatred in mosques up and down the UK and before you quote call me daves speech he only said it because of the growing popularity of the EDL (who I mainly agree with).

Nuclear radiation is released constantly, and has been since before our species emerged. Though public examination standards are commonly believed to be in decline, most children of secondary-school age will know this.

I thought we'd had the Doomsday Scenario up on Darwen Moors the other night?

Land Rover crash-landed with 8 retards on board, releasing their toxic stupidity.
Two helicopters, 26 members of a mountain rescue team and a number of police units...

God help us if we ever had a real Doomsday scenario.

Yes, we may hope that a god of a sort would help in the real Doomsday - or all accounts of that occasion are wrong.

If there is an Almighty God surely, if It is a Good One, the Doomsday scenario will not be allowed occur.

nowt to do with god, the world is as it is because of all of us, man creates, if we listen to the deceiver then we build its temple here on Earth, god finishes at free will unless of course one lives by the moral code handed down for thousands of years, then you know the message you build the message....

The Old Testament God wasn't as good as the New Testament God, I recall. An account in support of this view is the description of bears sent from the wood to tear apart some boys who called a prophet 'baldy' - and I can find more if I open the Book and look.

The Old Testament god was scripted in Babylon in a direct mimic of the idea formed by Akhenaton,as such it took on some of the traits of the Hyksos, an eye for an eye for example.
.
Whoever formed the Christian god, not the Jesus tale, advanced on the Torah by bringing fourth Akhenaton's direct communion tradition cancelling out the Temple of the priesthood and its eye for an eye, they resurrected the idea of love for all with forgiveness as the path to ascension.
.
Seneca and Pliny have been presented as the authors of the New Testament, they say Nero killed them for it, one thing that is true at least according to official history, the killing of the two spawned a lot of reprisals and revenge between two camps of Roman elites, those of love and the psychopaths who love to kill and as such where pretty upset with a doctrine which cancelled out their blood ****.
.
Today we have two paths, one of civil violence against Islam, or the old one of common sense and peace within our borders....Only the faces change, man still faces the same old conundrum, we just have a lot more weaponry today, or make that the psychos have all the weapons.....

Well, i wasn't expecting people waffling on about god and mind control when i looked at the headline, but there's no accounting for some people.

It's nice to see that the emergency services are continuing to develop their skills and experience so that they don't just stand around going 'Duhh' when something big and bad happens. Train hard - fight easy springs to mind.

No harm in a practice run I suppose but where do you stop and how can anyone guess what the loony brigade are going to do next?
-
But isn’t it ironic to have had a plane crash practice event here in Blackburn. Then again if anything did happen like the case at Locherbie where 270 people were killed just remember what the end result of that was. Ask Jack Straw who seems at the moment to be clearing up all of the things that he could have done something about when he had the power to do so. Another blunder hidden under mountains of legal technical ramblings that only he seems so able to deliver. But like the Iran issue to go to war, despite all of the technical details we’re all able to see the wood for the trees!
-
But did the murderer Abdel Baset Al-Megrahi remember to send Jack a Valentines card. Hope so?

I've just been on your website. While it is an interesting slant on history, i do have to ask if you actually lie awake at night worrying about all this stuff or do you live a happy and fullfilling life?

Can I also point out that times new roman is difficult to read at the best of times, and when create sentence structures like you do, it becomes very difficult to read what you have written.

I agree lifeinthemix, even I found my self nervous after rescuing an asian taxi driver with a can full of petrol stranded on a moor road in the snow.
Ive never been afraid of any race of people before and grew up in a mainly muslim area and went to a school where only 9 of us were white but due to the media, I felt afraid that this guy might want to blow us up as we drove along.
Goodness knows how those who are not aware of the "Media Control" manage to get by with out it dominating every aspect of their lives.
They seem to think that all beings who do not think like them are brainwashed, I wonder who made them think that?
They are so protective of a world that will take all their freedom in exchange for promised, but not actual, protection. Sadly, when the protection fails, which it always will, the excuses flow and the blame comes thick and fast.
I feel they need to protect their world as they see it though, its all they know. It would be a scary place without it.
I sleep well at night but for the baby. Neither money worries nor fear of the unknown will keep me from my slumber! What we need is provided, if we know the difference between want and need.

So much effort to propound, Lifey: yet like most you draw back from using your given name here. I gain so much enjoyment from using mine: when insults pass, they're so biting! And praise, so sweet.
