POLICE are appealing for witnesses after a man was seriously injured following a crash in Euxton this morning.

The accident happened shortly after 9am on Runshaw Lane when a Vauxhall Corsa collided with a Volvo that was travelling in the opposite direction. The Vauxhall then hit a tree on the offside of the carriageway.

The driver of the Vauxhall, a 23-year-old man from Morecambe, sustained serious injuries to his head and neck and was taken to Royal Preston Hospital where he remains in a stable condition.

PS Mick Young of the Road Policing Unit said: “An investigation into how this collision occurred is underway and I would urge anyone who witnessed the accident to come forward and contact us.”
