ROOF: The road has been closed and police officers are at the scene.
A MAN who was armed with an axe has safely come down from the roof of a building in Shawforth, police said.
Officers were called to Market Street at around 9.40am after reports the man had threatened to harm himself.
Police attended the scene for several hours and initially closed the road before reopening it at 1pm once the incident was resolved.

A police spokesman said: "A man had made threats to harm himself before making his way on to the roof of a property with an axe.
“He has now come down from the roof and has gone to hospital just for checks.”
