A VARIETY of Easter events are on offer across East Lancashire over the bank holiday weekend.

Rides and games stalls have taken over Witton Park in Blackburn where a funfair is being staged until Friday, April 21.

The fair is the largest in Lancashire with more than 50 rides and attractions.

Elsewhere in Blackburn, children will get the chance to meet Thornton’s Harry Hopalot in The Mall on Saturday.

He’ll be hiding in shops and cafes surprising visitors with free chocolate.

There will also be children’s crafts and storytelling throughout the day.

Burnley Live Music Weekend is to take place over three days from Good Friday to Easter Sunday.

There will be live music sets in town centre venues as well as pop-up performers.

Burnley town centre manager Catherine Price said: “We’re delighted to see so many pubs, bars and clubs across the town centre getting involved in Burnley Live Music Weekend.

“The whole event showcases brilliant local music talent and our great town centre venues.”

Elsewhere, there is Easter bonnet making at St Mary’s Hall in Sabden, an Easter hat parade at Rossendale Museum and an Easter trail at Towneley Hall on Saturday.

On Sunday, you can enjoy a family fun day at Haworth Art Gallery in Accrington or please can help find the Easter Bunny at Oswaldtwistle Civic.

If people fancy travelling a little further afield they will catch the ‘Cadbury Egg Hunt’ at National Trust venues across the North.

The closest sites are Rufford Old Hall, Hardcastle Crags and Marsden Moor Estate.

People can also catch an opening day Lancashire League cricket match on Sunday afternoon.

League new-boys Darwen, Great Harwood and Clitheroe are all in action and there’s a Hyndburn derby between Church and Accrington.

Meanwhile, one East Lancashire woman will be impressing people further afield with an Easter bunny cake she has created.

A creation from multiple award-winning cake artist Molly Robbins of Molly’s Creative Cakes in Crawshawbooth will be the star attraction at Burnley-based Oak Furniture Land’s new Carlisle store.
