A NEW government crackdown on litter louts will be good news for Lancashire beauty spots, the Conservatives have claimed.
Under new measures revealed on Monday, the worst offenders could be fined up to £150 while vehicle owners face penalties if litter is thrown from their cars, even if by someone else.
Environment secretary Andrea Leadsom said: “Visitors don’t want to see litter when they head to Lancashire’s coasts or to the beautiful countryside."
Geoff Driver, leader of Lancashire County Council Conservatives, said: “Rubbish can have a real negative effect on the lives of local people, which can hit our towns and villages.”
“If we are elected to County Hall next month we will incorporate these proposals into our plans.”
