A MAN has appeared before a judge and denied murdering an Accrington man who was found at home with a fractured skull.

Christopher Singleton, 36, of no fixed address, appeared over video link at Preston Crown Court where he denied murdering Raich Keith Alcock.

Detectives said Mr Alcock, was discovered at his home in Arnold Street, Accrington, on September 6.

He was taken to Royal Preston Hospital but died on September 17, having never regained consciousness.

Singleton appeared before Judge Mark Brown, the Recorder of Preston, where he spoke to confirm his name and enter his not guilty plea.

Singleton was remanded in custody to return to the court on January 30 when he will face a murder trial.

A 44-year-old Accrington man, arrested on suspicion of aiding and abetting a murder, has since been released without charge.

Speaking earlier this year Det Insp Tim McDermott said: “This is a tragic incident and I would offer my deepest condolences to Mr Alcock’s family and friends.”
