Green, of Exeter Street, Blackburn, pleaded guilty to assault.

She was made subject to a community order for 12 months with a nine months alcohol treatment requirement and 25 day rehabilitation activity requirement, fined £50 and ordered to pay £100 compensation.

She was also made subject of a restraining order for 12 months which prohibits her from having any contact with Mr Green or going within 100m of his home in Burnley Road, Bacup.

Enza Geldard, prosecuting, said police called to the Bacup address were met by Mr Green who showed them injuries to his face, neck and arm. He said he was asleep in bed when she attacked him.

Aftab Bakhat, defending, said his client had been the subject of domestic violence in a previous relationship which had led to a breakdown.

“One of the ways she handles depression is by drinking alcohol which she had been doing on this day,” said Mr Bakhat. “The aggrieved had made some threats towards her and in a fit of pique and in drink she attacked him. Immediately the incident ended she picked up the phone, called the police and told them what she had done.”
