TODAY is ‘24 Hours in Farming’, when the nation’s farmers come together on social media to showcase everything the agricultural industry does in the course of an average day.

The event began at 5am this morning and will end at 5am tomorrow morning.

Using #Farm24 on all posts, farmers and farming bodies are posting photos and videos of their activities on farm and behind the scenes.

The idea is to raise awareness of all the hard work which goes into British food production.

The event, now in its second year, is hosted by farming newspaper Farmers Guardian and is this year sponsored by NFU Mutual.

So far today:

• The event has been trending in the top five on Twitter all day

• There have been more than 7,000 tweets, reaching a potential 3.4million accounts

• And, there’s even been a message of support from Rio
