A TODMORDEN Harriers athlete, who has been charged with attempted murder after a man was stabbed in Birmingham, is set to stand trial in September.

Lauren Jeska appeared at Birmingham Magistrates Court this week following an alleged incident at the city’s Alexander Stadium in March.

The 41-year-old athlete, who has represented England, has also been charged with possessing a 12cm kitchen knife, a 13cm kitchen knife and a bread knife.

Jeska, who is accused of trying to kill Ralph Knibbs, is set to appear at Birmingham Crown Court on September 22.

According to his LinkedIn profile Mr Knibbs is head of human resources and welfare at UK Athletics, the sport’s British governing body.

Jeska is also charged with two counts of unlawful and malicious wounding with intent to inflict grievous bodily harm on two other men.

They were also UK Athletics officials, accountant Tim Begley and finance and operations director Kevan Taylor.

Jeska is listed a member of the Todmorden Harriers on the athletics club’s website.

It said she was the women’s 2010, 2011 and 2012 English Fell Running Champion and won the British Championship in 2012.

Jeska lives in Wesely Terrace, Machynlleth, Wales, and according to her Facebook profile works at Aberystwyth University and is originally from Lancaster.

She is expected to enter a plea at a hearing in Birmingham on June 10.
