  1. Get down to The Mall Blackburn (Victoria Court) this February Half Term and enjoy lots of Free activities! 

Monday 15th and Tuesday 16th Feb, 10am - 4pm
Make fairy wands and crowns with our special prince and princess.

Wednesday 17th and Thursday 18th February, 10am - 4pm
Chinese Lantern Making.

Friday 19th February, 10am - 4pm
Mother's Day special crafts - make cards and baskets.

We have lots of fun activities taking place all week to keep little ones entertained!

2. Or if you want to get closer to nature then visit Pets at Home Colne on February 17 and 19 from 1pm to participate in a free workshop, providing tips and tricks needed to turn their garden into a local wildlife haven. 

With the store holding the workshop during the half-term school break, it is a great opportunity for children to get involved, learn about wildlife and perhaps even catch a glimpse of Pendle’s spectacular wildlife in their own backyard. 

The store team, led by Neil Farr, will be informing customers how to make trees, hedges, flower pots and even ponds and compost more attractive to local wildlife.

3. Meanwhile there is a calendar of events at The Bureau Centre for the Arts, St John’s Centre, Victoria Street, Blackburn.
They range from getting musical on Monday to storytelling on Tuesday and then getting arty on Wednesday.
There is also get dramatic on Thursday or get drawing on Friday and finally learning circus skills on Saturday.

4. You can help increase the panda population by making a Panda from Jumping Clay, a soft, light air drying clay. 

It is taking place at Leaping Lizards Play Centre, Unit 4, Hawthorne Business Park, Lincoln Way , Clitheroe, Lancashire, BB7 1QD

5. If you are feeling a bit creative then travel to Oswaldtwistle Mills, off Colliers Street in Oswaldtwistle, on Tuesday 16 to fill a shaped bottle with our tasty choice of tangy sherbets or have fun decorating your own fish or sheep cupcake.

They cost: Sherbet Shapes & Cupcake Decorating £2.00 each or both for £3.00

 

This is a drop-in event to be held in our events area in The Hungry Tackler Restaurant – pre-booking is not necessary however parental supervision is required. Suitable for ages 3+

6. Why not take a step back in time for a Dinosaur themed ‘Get Crafty’ at Blackburn Museum between February 17-20 and run from 12 noon to 4pm.
The free craft sessions are drop-in and unsupervised by staff. 
They are aimed at children from toddler age to 12 years. All children must be supervised by an adult.

The crafts will have a Dinosaur theme.

The crafts will take about 20-30 minutes and the children can take home whatever craft they make (only one craft per day).

7. If you are a fan of bracelets, join Mrs Bead on her beady workshop, choose from hundreds of colourful beads to create your own Mother and Child bracelet sets, earrings or wine charms at Oswaldtwistle Mills.

8 Towneley Hall in Burnley is inviting families to enter an enchanting interactive garden inspired by nature and state-of-the-art technology.

The Tree, The Butterfly and the Caterpillar is the latest family friendly exhibition to join the highly successful Generation Tour.

Put together by artists Aether & Hemera, the interactive exhibition uses Xbox Kinect technology, enabling visitors' movements to affect a multi-coloured field of butterflies. Plus birdhouses will play birdsong as they respond to peoples' selections and visitors can use a magic watering can to make an LED pea tree grow.

The Tree, The Caterpillar and The Butterfly will be on show at Towneley until February 21.

Entry to the exhibition is free for Burnley residents. During winter months Towneley Hall is open on Saturdays and Sundays between 12pm and 5pm.

9. If you want a bit of monkey magic then visit Haworth Art Gallery in Accrington as there is a free, drop-in workshop for children (and adults) of all ages to celebrate Chinese New Year. 

It is all taking place on February 21 between 1.30pm to 3.30pm.

10. Why not get some fresh air with a trip to Brockholes, Samlesbury.
It is a new kind of nature reserve, an unreserved reserve. 
Located at Junction 31 of the M6, our beautiful reserve complete with trails and hides, is crowned by a floating Visitor Village featuring a gift shop, local food store and restaurant.

11. If you fancy a day out then you could visit Shores Hey Farm is a hidden delight set in acres of green space overlooking the Thursden Valley in Burnley.
Children can enjoy visiting the many horses and ponies on site, take part in a wide range of fun and educational activities, let off steam in our outdoor play area and join the Tommy Trotter Club to collect stickers and prizes when they visit.
