STORIES and tales came to life thanks to a special event for all the family.

The professional storytelling festival at King George’s Hall, Blackburn, hosted the free event.

And it was pronounced a success after the event boasted a good turnout.

The show saw stories and tales being told in different spaces at the venue.

Stories were read out to an audience of children of all ages and parents, and various tools were used to make sound effects and noises that accompanied the tales.

Folk tales were held in Blakey’s room, a puppet show in the lounge and ghost stories were told backstage.

Performances featured Cat Weatherill, an English storyteller who produces stories for adults, children, including educational storytelling.

Nick Hennessey, singer, songwriter and storyteller and Vanessa Card, performer and artist, also kept audiences enrapt.

Children who attended the event had the chance to play with the puppets used in the stories.

They also took part in drawing activities and games.

The venue hopes to hold the festival again next year.
