A DARWEN children’s home has been told that it requires improvement in a number of areas following a recent Ofsted inspection.

The home, which is not identified to the public for safeguarding reasons, is run by Woodside House Care Ltd.

Following the inspection earlier this month the home was said to need improvement in how well children are protected and helped as well the impact and effectiveness of leaders and managers.

The overall experiences and progress of the children at the home were concluded to be good.

Inspector Elaine Clare said: “Children and young people make significant progress from their starting points in education, social wellbeing and emotional health. All children and young people stated that the home is a safe and comfy environment.

“There are a vast range of activities, social clubs, weekends away on city breaks and holidays which enable children and young people to develop their social interaction with their peers.

“Areas at the home which require improvement include the need to strengthen recruitment procedures, the role of the independent visitor and supervision records.”
