BLACKBURN’S Pop Up Princesses will take to the stage at a nature-themed festival in the town this June.

Countryside Comes To Town, on June 20 and organised by Blackburn BID, features a range of free family fun events from the enchanting world of princesses and street theatre to a giant talking compost heap and a 30ft sleeping sow.

Pop Up Princesses — founded by 26-year-old Amy Toole, of Pleasington — provides costumed portrayals of fictional characters for events.

Amy said: “It is exciting to be part of an event taking place in the town I grew up in. Countryside Comes To Town looks like it is going to attract massive numbers. It is a privilege to be one of the stars of the show.”

Performing-arts graduate and former Westholme pupil Amy found employment as a cruise liner performer before launching the flourishing business which has featured in OK! Magazine and on ITV’s Text Santa.

Amy said: “The business has gone from strength to strength and in the near future we will be expanding and increasing the number of experienced actors posing as magical princesses.”

The Weather Sisters from the Pop Up Princesses will be on King William Street from 2.30pm. The singalong begins on stage outside Blackburn Town Hall at 3.45pm.
