EVER wanted to own a Ghostbusters car? Well here’s ‘who you gonna call’.

A 2001 Skoda Octavia charity rally car, adapted to look like the ‘ECTO-1’ used in the iconic 1980s film comedy, is up for sale.

Owner Richard Shimmin, from Chorley has spent his spare time adapting the car and has taken part in four different European rallies over the last few years.

As well as being something strange in Richard’s neighbourhood, the car has been used for high school prom nights, weddings and parties for those wishing to make a ‘busting’ arrival.

The car has many electrical features, including air horns, strobe lights, water jets and tannoy. Also included in the sale is a Ghostbusters proton backpack that sprays water.

Richard said he has had numerous fun memories from the vehicle but has now decided to sell it.

He said: “We’ve had some brilliant times with it including taking part in the cross-Europe Screwball rally where we raised money for St Catherine’s Hospice and Brothers of Charity Marina Cafe.

“I also took it to a rally in Barcelona. It’s been reliable and fun to drive .”

Richard has listed the car on the Ebay auction website for a price of £1,400.

He said: “For insurance purposes the car is just a Skoda Octavia with a roof rack.”

He also plans to produce a new rally vehicle in the future.

“I’m looking for a Citroen van and I’m planning the theme around the film Despicable Me,” he said.
