He said: “We are focused more on sweet pastries such as mince pies, snowman biscuits and Christmas cakes, which are the big sellers at this time of year.”

Clayton Park produces a wide variety of pies, cakes and breads, and is the official pie supplier to a number of football clubs including Blackburn Rovers and Accrington Stanley.

Earlier this year, a record number of hot cross buns – more than 100,000 packs – were produced in time for Easter.

The firm, which supplies pies to major supermarkets, underwent a rebranding this year.
