SACRED Heart Primary School in St Silas’s Road is in the running to win £1,000 in a national competition and is seeking votes from the local community.

In June, the school received a paint donation from the Dulux Let’s Colour project and transformed its playground by painting a beautiful garden mural on to the existing plain and dull brick walls.

Dulux chose Sacred Heart Primary School’s artwork to feature in the competition because it brought colour to people’s lives – but it’s up to people in Blackburn to help it scoop the top prize to further improve the premises.

Project leader Lauren O’Neill, who originally applied for the paint donation online, said: “We couldn’t believe it when we heard Dulux had selected our murals for the competition.

“The donated paint helped us to transform our site, but there’s still so much we want to do to improve our facilities for our pupils. That’s why we really want everyone to vote for us!”
