FIREFIGHTERS in Burnley and Padiham swapped their hoses for sponges on Saturday, all in the name of charity.
Although they may be more used to pouring water on to raging fires, the fire men and women proved their skills were transferable by sending dozens of cars away squeaky clean and shining.
The firefighters washed cars at the main fire station in Ormerod Road in Burnley, and also at Tesco supermarket in Padiham.
All money raised from the car wash will be be donated to The Fire Fighters Charity which provides services that enhance quality of life for serving and retired fire fighters, fire personnel and their families.
