CAMPAIGN group ‘Keep East Lancashire Frack Free’ joined over 2,000 people in Manchester on Sunday calling for greater action on climate change.

The march to the Labour Party conference was one of hundreds of events across the world timed ahead of a UN summit on climate change which starts in New York today.

It will attended by international leaders, including UK Prime Minister David Cameron and US President Obama.

They joined other county anti-fracking groups, including Residents Action on Fylde Fracking and Ribble Estuary Against Fracking, trade unions and environmentalists in calling for government action to support clean energy and tough action on climate change.

Dorothy Kelk, from Central Lancashire Friends of the Earth, said: “It was fantastic to see so many people marching for action on climate change, including many Frack Free Lancashire groups who had travelled from across the county.

“The events attended by hundreds of thousands of people worldwide send a strong message to local and central government that they must to take bold action on climate change, including an end to new dirty energy such as fracking and support for green community energy.”
