A YOUNG singer performed live in front of millions on a TV talent competition.

Siobhan Masih, 24, appeared on Channel 4’s The Singer Takes it All, hosted by Alan Carr on Friday night.

The shop assistant at Farmfoods in Colne wowed viewers, staying at the front of the travelling platform and gaining a gold rating while others in her group were relegated.

Former Colne Primet High School pupil Siobhan said: “It was cool. I was nervous before I went on, but everyone backstage was really nice and that calmed me down, but I still had a lot of nerves.

“I made a lot of friends. It’s an experience, and now I’ve had a taste of it, I want more.”

Siobhan, of Reedyford Road, Nelson, is also through to Open Mic UK’s regional finals, the winner of which is awarded £5,000 and a recording contract.

She said: “I auditioned a couple of weeks ago. I’m really looking forward to singing at the Royal Northern College of Music for the regional stage.”

The singer has previously had a shot at the limelight in the BBC soap Waterloo Road and she also had a part in ITV’s Britannia High, which she appeared in when she was 18.
