EAST Lancashire is braced for a bumper weekend of activities as the hot weather continues into next week.

Saturday will see Rossendale and Pendle Mountain Rescue Team members abseil down Peel Tower.

The event has been organised to raise money for the team and will take place all day.

Feniscowles Pre-School in Blackburn will host a fun day from 11am, to raise money for school funds, which will attended by the fire service.

Rawtenstall’s annual fair will be staged from 10am to 4pm in the town square and Trawden Garden Festival will be held from 1.30am.

Blackburn’s second ever canal festival which boasts to be bigger and better, will be held at Eanam Wharf tomorrow and Sunday, celebrating the history of the Leeds and Liverpool Canal.

Hurst Green in the Ribble Valley will host an open gardens weekend for the first time on Saturday and Sunday. It will be open from 1pm to 5pm each day.

Sunday will see Turton Tower Scarecrow Day from 11am and the pedal car Darwen Grand Prix will be staged from noon to 2pm.

Crawshawbooth’s fun day will run from 11am to 4pm and Burnley’s Arts Centre will host an artisan market.

Saturday will see highs of 20C and sunshine until 7pm, with Sunday a clear day from 10am with highs of 16C.
