TICKETS for the away end at Sunday’s huge derby match between Blackburn Rovers and Burnley have sold out.

Clarets fans have bought all of the 4,500 tickets made available for the Ewood Park encounter, which kicks off at 12.30pm.

And Burnley’s supporters will be hopeful of a first win against their bitter rivals in almost 35 years. The high-flying Clarets smell blood as their opponents have struggled to find consistency this season while Burnley are powering towards promotion to the Premier League.

A spokesman for Blackburn Rovers FC said 14,700 tickets had so far been sold for the Rovers ends.

And come Sunday, it is expected that more than 20,000 will be packed inside the ground for the match. At the initial fixture at Turf Moor in September, 15,699 supporters saw Rovers snatch a 1-1 draw after Jordan Rhodes’s late equaliser.

And in the corresponding game last season, when another late equaliser, this time from Blackburn-born David Dunn, produced a 1-1 draw at Ewood Park, the attendance was 21,341.

Rovers’ management is hoping for a boost from the ‘B and B’ initiative, where fans buying a ticket for the East Lancashire Derby match can go to Tuesday’s home game against Bournemouth for £6.
