A MAN who attacked his then-partner, and left her with a ‘lot of injuries’ after kicking and punching her, has been sentenced to a community order.

Daniel Sledden, 48, lost his temper and set about the victim as she was set to leave him.

He went out drinking, returned home at 3am, woke her up, pulled her out of bed by her hair, dragged her around the bedroom, and punched her in the face, making her nose bleed.

She later told police: “He just kept punching me all around my head and body.”

Burnley Crown Court was told the victim’s ordeal ended when a neighbour, woken by shouts of ‘You’re hurting me’, called the police.

Sledden had taken his partner’s mobile phone off her. The defendant was questioned, and claimed all he had done was restrain her.

Sledden, of Tinker Brook Close, Oswaldtwistle, had admitted assault, causing actual bodily harm, committed last May 4. He was sentenced to a 12-month community order, with supervision, and must attend the Safer Relationships Activity.
