RESIDENTS in East Lancashire are being urged to ensure they don’t contract a sexually-transmissted infection this Christmas.

Lancashire Contraception and Sexual Health is also warning people against becoming pregnant unintentionally.

Sue Capstick, clinical business manager for sexual health at Lancashire Care NHS Foundation Trust, said: “Sometimes it’s hard to remember to protect ourselves, especially in the heat of the moment, or after a few drinks. Alcohol can cause you do things you wouldn’t normally do.

“By carrying condoms, being aware of what to do, and who to call, people can protect themselves from a sexually transmitted infection, or unwanted pregnancy.”

If you use a daily method of contraception, make sure you have enough for over Christmas.
