Coppull pub opens doors to computer games nights

A pub in Coppull is giving gaming enthusiasts the chance to feel every kick, every header and every tackle of a virtual football match – and win some top prizes in the process.

The Springfield, in Spendmore Lane, is hosting a games night with a difference and instead of punters playing pool and darts, they will be competing in a computer football competition.

And thanks to Coppull-based Ultimate Game Chair Ltd, competitors will experience the game as if they were actually playing the game themselves.

The company, which has organised the night, distributes gaming chairs which take users to a whole new level, allowing them to experience every movement of the game, from kicking a ball and being punched to being in a car chase.

The competition at The Springfield starts on November 4 and, depending on the number of entrants, conclude on November 11.

Landlord Tom Anderton said: “We have had a couple of trial runs but this will be the first big competition that we have had. A lot of the younger customers seem well into it so it should be a good contest. We want people from across Chorley to come down, try out the chairs and take part.”

There will be a prize for the winner and runner up and The Game Station store in Chorley will also be donating prizes.

Ultimate Game Chair Ltd, which trades as The Gaming Collection, has recently signed a deal with Capcom which one of the largest video game companies in the world and has produced such titles as Street Fighter, Resident Evil and Moto GP.

Joe Ibrahim, a partner in the firm who has been at a major electronics show in Dubai this week, said: “The chairs gives the player total immersion in to the game they are playing and will work with any games console on the market today.”

Anyone wanting to enter the competition has until November 1 to do so and can get more information by calling 01257 477060.
