POLICE are appealing for witnesses following an assault in Coppull, last week.

At around 10.26pm on Tuesday April 10th, a man heard banging at the front door on Mavis Drive.

As he went to answer the door, the glass was broken and a corrosive substance was sprayed through the broken panel.

The man suffered severe burns to his face, arms and back as a result of the attack and remains in a serious but stable condition in hospital. A woman was also treated for minor injuries.

Police are appealing for information and are urging anyone who witnessed the incident or may have any information to contact officers.

Det Sgt Jerry Sturgess of Chorley CID, said: “We are appealing for information following what is a serious attack on a home in Coppull. The man is still recovering in hospital as a result of his injuries and we need to establish who is responsible.

“We believe this is an isolated incident potentially involving two offenders. I would urge anyone with any information at all to come forward, particularly anyone who saw anything suspicious in the Mavis Drive area in the time leading up to the incident.”
