Pupils from Coppull Primary School have helped to lay some of the bricks for the first properties at new housing development.

Around 20 children were invited to Morris Homes’ Highwood Grange estate in Clancutt Lane, Coppull, which will have 28 homes once complete.

The year three to six pupils were given a tour of the site and were then taught about the construction of the homes and the types of bricks used, following which they were invited to help lay some of the bricks themselves.

The activity marks a new partnership with Coppull Primary School, and Morris will invite the group back to the development to see the different stages of the build as it progresses.

Janet Solan, sales manager at Morris, said: “It was fantastic to welcome the children from the school to the site and teach them all about how the homes are being built at Highwood Grange.

“The children showed a keen interest in learning about the construction process, and they really enjoyed getting the chance to lay some of the bricks themselves.”

Michael Chambers, co-headteacher, said: “The children had a wonderful time visiting Highwood Grange to look around the development and take part in the bricklaying activity.

“They were really keen to learn all about how the houses are being built and especially enjoyed the practical bricklaying lesson.

“We are really looking forward to returning to Highwood Grange in a few months to see how the build has progressed.”
