Chorley Community Housing (CCH) has won more than £5,000 in unclaimed benefits for a disabled tenant.

The 68-year-old man from Coppull, who does not wish to be named, applied for Attendance Allowance more than 18 months ago.

His application was refused and appealed, but lost the appeal because he failed to turn up as he is housebound.

CCH’s Debt Advisor Christine Wigham took on the case and helped the tenant by obtaining an independent medical report and giving the tenant a lift to the tribunal, where she presented the case on his behalf.

Following the tribunal, the tenant was awarded backdated attendance allowance of £5,015.15.
