Benefit helpline to run for a week

Older people in Lancashire are being advised to check they are getting all the benefits they are entitled to before winter sets in.
Lancashire County Council’s welfare rights service is running a special telephone helpline during Older People’s Week, which starts on Monday.
The aim is to help pensioners to meet the cost of fuel bills together with any extras they may need during the winter months.
The helpline number is 0845 053 0014. The lines open between 9am and 4pm from Monday, October 1 to Friday, October 5.
