Lancs County Council opens advice line for parents of disabled children

LANCASHIRE parents who care for a child with a disability or other additional needs will be able to find out if they are missing out on money they are entitled to by calling an advice line.

The advice line is being run by Lancashire County Council's welfare rights service and is being staffed by specially-trained welfare rights officers. The line will be open from Monday, May 9 to Friday, May 13.

Parents who want to check whether they are receiving all the benefits they are entitled to can leave their name and number, and they will be called back in complete confidence by a Lancashire County Council welfare rights officer.

As well as getting advice on benefits, parents will! be able to find out more about a new booklet 'Benefit Advice Guide for Children and Young People with Disabilities'.

The booklet has been produced by Lancashire's welfare rights service. It explains the benefits parents may be able to claim for their child, along with the benefits parents can claim as their carer, including extra tax credits available for working parents.

The advice line will be open for the whole week from 9am to 5pm.
