Brindle Historical Society are hosting An evening with Alfred Wainwright on Monday, March 22 in Brindle Community Hall.
The evening, beginning at 7.30pm will feature John Burland from the Wainwright Society playing the role of the well known Lakeland writer, Alfred Wainwright and will end with a illustrated presentation about Wainwright’s life and the work of the Wainwright Society.
Alfred Wainwright was born in Blackburn in 1907 and began visiting the Lakeland Fells in 1930.
His 40 or so books and seven pictorial guides, written between 1955 and 1966, became the reference books for visitors and fell walkers alike.
Known simply as AW, he became a TV personality in the mid-1980s with many of his favourite walks being broadcast; he was awarded an MBE in 1967 and died on the 20th January 1991, three days after his 84th birthday.
Ian Whyte, Chairman of Brindle Historical Society said: "This is a bit of a coup for a relatively small society like ours."
Entry to the event is £1.50.
