A campaign to reduce energy use at Chorley Hospital to cut costs and do less harm to the environment has been launched.
More than 170 staff have volunteered to become EARS (Environmental Awareness Representatives) to help launch the campaign.
Lancashire Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust spends around £5.5 million on energy and water each year.
Staff will be encouraged to help reduce energy use and costs by turning off lights and computer monitors, only turning on electrical equipment when it is needed and helping to correctly control room temperatures without wasting heat by opening windows during the winter.
The campaign is supported financially by the Carbon Trust.
