Sport Relief event planned for Chorley park

Budding athletes are being invited to rise to the challenge and sign up for the Sport Relief Mile being held in Chorley.

Already more than 200 people have put their names down for the fun event being held on Sunday, March 21, in Astley Park.

The event includes tiny tots with mums and dads, to serious runners up against the clock.

Councillor John Walker, Chorley Council’s Executive Member (People) said: “People of all ages can sign up for this.

“And where better than to run a mile with the beautiful Astley Park and its historic Hall as a backdrop?

“There will be all kinds of activities going on during the day to make a real fun-filled event for the whole family. So even if you don’t want to run, you can come along and cheer on those that do and enjoy a great day out.”

The Sainsbury’s Sport Relief Mile is taking the nation by storm and is being backed by sporting and showbiz celebrities.

The Chorley Mile is part of the national event which is raising money in a fun way to help transform the lives of poor and vulnerable people.

The Chorley Mile will be held on Sunday, March 21, from 10.30am for an 11am start. It costs £5 for adults (16 and over), £2 for children (under 16) and you can get a family discount paying £12 for two adults and two children.

The entry fee covers the cost of staging the event so it’s important to get sponsorship.
