A TEENAGER died after crashing his motorbike into a lamppost.
A police spokesman said the incident took place shortly before 7.30pm on Monday as the 17-year-old was travelling from Chorley town centre towards Rivington on his motorcycle.
As he approached the Cowling Brow junction with Crosse Hall Street, he came off the bike and hit a lamppost.
He was taken to Royal Preston Hospital where he later died from his injuries.
Police are asking anyone who may have witnessed the incident or moments leading up to it to come forward.
Sgt Adam Pearson said: “Firstly I would like to send my sincere condolences to the boy’s family at this incredibly sad and difficult time.
“We are investigating the cause of this tragic collision and so if you saw anything that you think could help us with our inquiries please make contact.”
