MEN will soon be checking their make-up and hitching up their frocks to take part in the third ‘Dames on the Run’ in aid of Derian House.

Taking place at Astley Park, the charity is looking for dads, brothers, friends and colleagues to take part in the 5k fun run to raise much-needed funds for the children’s hospice.

The event is staged to celebrate all the Derian dads who do so much to support their family in the face of their child’s illness, and the impact it has on them both emotionally and financially.

You don’t have to be linked to the charity in any way, just be a game dame and complete a 5k course while raising money for this brilliant local cause.

This year the fundraising team is making it even easier to sign up and join in the fun run, with their Chorley shop having some fabulous dresses available and have their windows dressed with a selection of perfect race outfits.

On the day itself there will also be a make up station so the perfect pout is guaranteed and runners can even sign up on the day.

There will be prizes for the winner of the 5K Run, Best Dressed Dame and a Photo Competition.

Susie Poppitt, head of fundraising at Derian House, said: “This fun event has now become a firm favourite in the Derian House fundraising calendar.

"It provides both runners and spectators alike with a 5K race with a difference, and a lot of entertainment along the way, and, of course, it raises vital funds for Derian House at the same time!

"We want as many men as possible to sign up and help us raise at least £5,000 sponsorship to help us make a real difference to the life threatened children and families we support throughout the North West.

"So, come on guys, get out those dresses, put on the makeup, and start training for the race of your life!”
