As a reward for outstanding behaviour in a recent inspection, all the pupils and staff at a primary school were taken on a trip to Blackpool Tower Circus.
The outing was reward for all at St Joseph’s Catholic Primary School, Cedar Road, Chorley.
The trip, which has been in the offing since the school received a good with features of outstanding from OFSTED, was organised and paid for by the school in recognition of the children’s excellent behaviour for learning. Mrs Blackledge, headteacher, said: “We just wanted to reward the children for their hard work and outstanding behaviour in both our recent OFSTED visit and our RE inspection for which we received an ‘Outstanding’ grade also.
“We are doing a circus theme as part of our whole school creative curriculum topic.
“The project kicked off with a visit from the ‘Magical Circus for schools’ company ’ who visited to carry out circus workshops with the children.
“It was then that we thought, what better way to reward them than with a trip to the Blackpool Tower Circus.
“Visitors to school often remark about our children’s exemplary behaviour and it’s something that we are very proud of here at St Joseph’s. ”
As a culmination of the circus theme, the children had a dress up day with circus activities.
There were also prizes on offer for creative writing and artwork centred around the circus theme.
