Former forensic lab in Euxton for sale
2:58pm Wednesday 21st May 2014 in Chorley
The former forensic laboratory and office facility in Euxton is up for auction with a £400,000 asking price.
The premises were once used to help solve some of the most high profile crime cases in the country.
It closed in 2011 with forensic services transferred primarily to the private sector. The laboratories previously employed more than 200 people, including forensic scientists, managers and computer staff.
The complex, in Washington Lane comprises 38,000 sq ft, on a site of around 3.2 acres and is a range of office and laboratory type buildings. The guide price is £400,000 plus and it was among the lots being offered at the Eddisons auction in Manchester yesterday, Tuesday, May 20.
The site neighbours the Lancashire Fire training centre and new fire station.
Tony Webber, director and auctioneer at Eddisons, said: “This is a major site in a convenient location close to junction 8 of the M61.
“The existing buildings may offer a refurbishment opportunity, whilst the overall site could suit wider redevelopment, subject to planning.”
