Scouts and Cubs in Pike View challenge

Motorists on the M61 last weekend may have seen a temporary tented village on the Rivington hillside housing hundreds of Scouts from the North West.

They were taking part in the annual Pike View Hike Challenge Weekend organised by Bolton and Farnworth Scouts and based at Bibby’s Farm Scout Camp and Activity Centre.

Teams of four navigated their way around one of three routes in Anglezarke and the West Pennine Moors — a 13km route for Cubs who walked with an adult, 20km for Scouts and 24km for Explorer Scouts.

As well as hundreds of youngsters taking part there were 120 support volunteers filling a variety of roles.
