Families enjoy Chorley's free annual Playday
8:00am Friday 16th August 2013 in Chorley
Children and families showed up in their thousands for free fun and activities at the annual Playday.
The event, at Coronation Rec, Devonshire Road, hosted children’s activities including rock climbing, seed planting, face painting and a teddy bear’s picnic.
Children had the chance to meet some animal friends in the form of owls, pigs, sheep and donkeys and then grab an ice cream in the sunshine.
Chorley Council’s Get Up and Go team put on a range of sporting activities including football, tennis, tri-golf, giant darts and much more throughout the day, last Wednesday, to encourage children to enjoy keeping fit and active, especially over the summer holidays.
Other events during the summer include Sports in the Park on Saturday, a chance for the whole family to have a go at a range of different sports, taking place on Astley Park from 11am to 3pm.
Coun Bev Murray, who oversees parks and leisure, said: “We had a fantastic day, there was so much to do and my children had so much fun as they do each year.
“The weather was on our side and there was an amazing turnout of families from all across the borough. The more support we get from residents at this kind of event, the more that we are able to put on in the future.”
