Andrea Wilson with Murphy
A Chorley woman and Murphy, a 20-month-old smooth fox terrier, proved every dog does have its day after walking away with a top prize at Crufts.
Murphy was one of over 25,000 dogs at the Kennel Club‘s Birmingham NEC event, which was celebrating 140 years of promoting dogs. Murphy held his head high as he claimed the best of breed award at the weekend.
Owner Andrea Wilson fought off competition from a number of other dogs to scoop the coveted prize.
And the 40-year-old was left beaming with pride at her and Murphy’s performance in the West Midlands.
“It feels amazing to do this,” Mrs Wilson said. “I know many people who have entered but have not managed to pick up Best of Breed so it’s very special.
“His mother won the best bitch certificate last year so it’s great to carry that on. He is really laid back and such a pleasure to have at home.
“Crufts is a fantastic event, so many people come each year. It’s one of the main dog shows and everyone wants to take part and do well.”
