Profits rise after refurb at Chorley function venue
8:00am Friday 8th February 2013 in Chorley
A function venue in Chorley has seen a major increase in usage after its refurbishment last year.
The Lancastrian Suite in the town hall is seeing nearly double the amount of people using the facility compared to the previous year.
Figures from Chorley Council show that profits generated from the suite have risen from £4,730 to £8,786 a year since the improvements, including adding changing rooms to the backstage area, enhancing the facilities in the bar area and opening up the room to private functions.
The news has been welcomed by deputy council leader, Councillor Peter Wilson. He said: “The Lancastrian Suite is a fantastic asset to Chorley and it is great to see more people using the venue for a wide range of events, meetings and functions.
“The investment the council has made in improving the facilities has already seen a significant return with both the number of events taking place and revenue for the venue almost doubling in the last six months, compared to 2011.
“We want to put more back into the community and improving and investing in facilities that local people and community groups can use is essential.
“There are still some further improvements to be made but we will continue to showcase the venue to encourage even more people to choose it for their function, event, training course, meeting or what- ever they have in mind.”
