Chorley’s first citizen has issued an invitation for people to attend one of the biggest events on her fundraising calendar – the Mayor’s charity ball.

Coun June Molyneaux wants people to make a date in their diary to get out their ‘glad rags’ for the popular event on Friday, February 15.

The event takes place the evening after Valentine’s Day so couples could also use the glittering event to continue the romantic theme.

She said: “It is one of the biggest nights in the mayoral year so I’m really looking forward to it.

“It is a fantastic social occasion when people can have fun and at the same time raise money for local charities.

“It will be a really great night with gourmet buffet, disco, tombola and a special prize draw, so I hope to see lots of people there.”

The ball will be held in the Lancastrian Suite of Chorley Town Hall starting at 7.30pm and will raise money for the Mayor’s chosen charities – St Catherine’s Hospice, Home-Start Chorley and South Ribble, Chorley Mencap and Chorley Shopmobility.

Tickets are already on sale and are priced at £30 each or £275 for a table for 10.
