Final preparations are being made for the Christmas lights switch-on.

On Saturday the town centre will see a spectacular stage and fireworks show organised by the council.

There will be a host of family fun and entertainment on the Market Street stage from 4pm with performances by Abba and Lady Gaga tribute acts, the return of Chorley’s 2011 X Factor star Jonjo Kerr and magical panto previews from Buckshaw VAMP and CADOS.

The lights will be switched on at 5.30pm by some of Chorley’s most successful sporting heroes including Paralympian athletes, Graeme Ballard, Rik Waddon and Natalie Jones plus Super League’s top try scorer of 2012, Wigan Warriors winger, Josh Charnley.

There will also be a festive food and craft market in Fazakerley Street, small fairground rides in Market Street and a performance by Chorley Silver Band near the Flat Iron car park.
