AN ADLINGTON fundraiser has raised nearly £800 for Cancer Research UK.
Cathi Caley, of Highfield Road, who is originally from California, organised a charity rock night at St Paul's Church Social Club to celebrate becoming a British citizen.
Mum-of-two Cathi, who moved to the UK in the 1980’s to go to college, said: “I wanted to throw a party for all my friends and family to celebrate my naturalisation as a British Citizen.
“After my own experience of the disease I thought it would be a good opportunity to support a very important cause at the same time so decided to raise money for Cancer Research UK. “It was a fantastic night and everyone had a great time. We had a live rock band, a raffle, and my husband Gareth organised a short quiz based on life in the UK.
Sarah McPhee, Cancer Research UK’s area volunteer manager for Lancashire, said: “We can’t thank Cathi enough for organising this event in aid of Cancer Research UK and for all the support her family, friends and local businesses gave her to make it such a memorable evening.“
